Betty Boop Hair

Betty Boop costume flapper wigHalloween is all about dressing in costume! However, there are many times in which just the costume is not enough to put you in the character’s shoes. This is where the make-up, hairstyle and accessories intervene to create that authentic look that you long for so much.

This is definitely the case with Betty Boop, who is known for her great round eyes, strange-sweet Brooklyn accent, sexy red dress and black curly hair – especially the hair, which symbolizes everything about the 1920′s Flapper era. This is why it is highly important to learn how to do your hair in order to look like the real Betty Boop.

Creating the Hairstyle

When talking about Betty Boop’s hairstyle, which is called a Bob, or flapper style, it all depends on your hair color, shape and length. If you are a curly brunette with short to medium hair, then you are few of the lucky girls who only need a handful of mousse to make their hair look like Betty Boop’s!

Things are different for brunettes with straight hair, as you will need to curl your hair and at the same time make it look shorter than it really is. For this you will need a curling iron, hairspray and lots of hairpins.

Once you have all these in front of you, start by taking small strands of hair, curl them with the curling iron, roll them on your finger until you have reached the scalp and then attach the hairpin to keep the hair in place. Do this until all your hair is rolled up and carefully pined. Make sure that the strands you take are almost equal, so that they will create a nice effect when they are all done.

Wearing a Betty Boop Wig

For women with blond or red hair (who do not want to change their hair color for one night), there is always the option of wearing a wig. For this, purchase a black wig with short curly hair, similar to Betty Boop’s hair, and a wig cap to keep your natural hair in place.

Put the wig cap and make sure that no natural hair strand gets out of it, then place the wig on your head. Most wigs have a fake look when you first put them on, so you will need to stylish them a little bit before leaving the house. This can be done easily with a round brush that will highlight the curls and some hairspray to keep the curls in place.

To add more volume to your hair, you can use make-up to draw some strands of hair on your face. This way you will not have to stay with all that hair on your face and you will also manage to achieve that cartoon-like look which is almost impossible to get using hair. Then put on your Betty Boop costume and you’re ready to dance!

When dressing up like Betty Boop, it is the hair and make-up which make the costume, so give them proper attention this Halloween if you want to be the queen of animation and the first sex symbol cartoon character!
